On Monday, 01 July 2019 at about 09:30, SAPS Gelvandale members acted on information received of a shotgun hidden on the roof of a house in Hartebees Street in Helenvale.
The shotgun was found in a black bag on top of the toilet roof. The shotgun was reported stolen in Pearson in May 2016. No arrests were made.
Mount Road Cluster Commander, Major General Thembisile Patekile thanked the community for providing information to the police. “The continued recovery and seizure of firearms is a deterrent for the commission of serious and violent crimes. I continue to urge the community to be our eyes and ears by providing information on criminal activities,” added Major General Patekile.
