Eskom has confirmed that the probability of load shedding this weekend is low.
The announcement comes ahead of the much-anticipated Rugby World Cup semi-finals between South Africa and Wales.
The match is set to take place at 11:00 SA time on Sunday.
"The probability of load shedding is low for the weekend and the following week," Eskom said in a statement.
Eskom said it had made "significant progress towards full recovery" after a conveyer belt malfunctioned at Medupi Power Station.
The power utility said that they are "on track with maintenance teams working tirelessly to return units to service from planned and unplanned breakdowns”.
"As a result, as of 5am this morning, unplanned breakdowns are below 10,500 MW. All units from Hendrina Power Station which had tripped on Monday, due to a transmission fault, have been successfully returned to service," the statement read.
