EASTERN CAPE - KABELJAUWS FARM ATTACK VICTIM STABBED IN THE HEAD THEN SHOOTS & WOUNDS SUSPECT

Jeffrey's Bay police are searching for an armed man who attacked a 48-year-old woman on her farm in Kabeljauws.

Spokesperson, Captain Gerda Swart says it is alleged that the 48-year-old woman was busy performing administrative duties in the office next to her home on Friday evening when she heard noises outside the premises.

She says at first, she thought it was her husband, but then saw two men - one armed with a firearm and the other with a sharp object - in front of the office, trying to gain access.

Swart says one of the suspects then stabbed the woman in the head and she retaliated by shooting him in the upper body.

The other suspect then fled the scene.

He is still at large.

Captain Swart says the victim phoned her husband, who immediately alerted the necessary emergency services.

The suspect in his 30's was admitted to a hospital under police guard, and the woman received medical treatment for her injuries.

Police are investigating cases of attempted murder and attempted house robbery.
