JOHANNESBURG - EXPLOSION ROCKS SANDTON SHOPPING COMPLEX INJURING MULTIPLE PEOPLE

Multiple patients with serious injuries were treated and transported from the burning restaurant.
Three people have been injured in a gas explosion at a shopping centre on Rivonia Boulevard in Sandton, north of Johannesburg.

The injured have been hospitalised after a gas explosion which caused a fire at a restaurant in the shopping complex.

Spokesperson for the Johannesburg Emergency Services, Nana Radebe says investigations are underway.

“The City of Joburg EMS received a call about a structural fire in Rivonia. On arrival, we found that a restaurant was alight. A number of people have been taken out. Three have been taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition.”
