UITENHAGE - OFF-DUTY COP CATCHES 2 STOCK THEFT SUSPECTS HIDING IN THE SWARTKOPS RIVER

Warrant Offcer Jacques Adlem, attached at Uitenhage K9 Unit, was on his rest day when he was approached by a neighbouring farmer regarding theft of pigs from his farm. Warrant Officer Adlem assisted with the search, resulting in discovery of two slaughtered pig carcasses with an estimated value of R4000-00 and three knives that might have been used during the slaughter.

On further search on the surrounding area, he located two suspects hiding in the Swartkops River, completely hidden under hyacinth plants. He arrested both suspects and charged them for stock theft.

The two male suspects aged between 31 and 46 will appear at Uitenhage Magistrate's court today. The complainant positively identified the pigs as his property.

Eastern Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lt Gen Liziwe Ntshinga commended the members for the speedy arrest.
