Solly Moses Nkuna (30) will serve an effective 15 years of his 30 years sentence in prison.
This comes after Nkuna was sentenced in the Humansdorp Regional Court on two charges on Wednesday, 21 October 2020.
A watertight case presentation by a team of detectives, Lieutenant Colonel Nothemba Ngcakana and Warrant Officer Zuan Nepgen led to the conviction and sentencing of Nkuna for murder and robbery with aggravating circumstances.
Nkuna was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment for murdering Ntonyana Ramabudu (69) and also sentenced to 15 years imprisonment for a second charge of robbery with aggravating circumstances, this comes after the regional court heard that on Saturday, 08 February 2020 around 11:00am, Ramabudu was last seen by his family leaving his home in his grey Ford Ranger bakkie.
The following day around 06:40am, his lifeless body was found with head injuries lying in the open space approximately a kilometre from route R330 in Humansdorp.
The evidence that was presented by the two detectives from the forensic evidence to oral arguments led to the accused to plead guilty, and subsequently convicted on Thursday, 08 October 2020.
The two sentences will run concurrently.
