PORT ELIZABETH - CRIMINALS CONTINUE TO PLUNDER GOVAN MBEKI AVE MUNICIPAL BUILDING

Port Elizabeth police are investigating break-ins at a municipal building in which laptop computers were stolen.


Police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, said two cases of housebreaking and one of attempted housebreaking occurred at the Mfanasekhaya Qobose Building in Govan Mbeki Avenue and are under investigation by SAPS Humewood.

"The first incident took place during the (last) weekend between Friday and Monday. Four laptops were taken and entry to the premises was gained through a broken window," she said.

Janse Van Rensburg the second incident occurred on Wednesday on the public holiday at approximately 03:50.

She said a security official on patrol heard a loud noise and after investigating spotted a suspect carrying a box which he dropped and ran away.

Janse Van Rensburg said the suspect gained entry after breaking a glass door.

She said a 40-year-old man was arrested by a security official early on Friday morning following another incident.

He will appear in court on Monday.
