A 30-year-old taxi driver was arrested last night and detained on a charge of culpable homicide after allegedly fatally hitting a 14-year-old teenager and failed to stop at the accident yesterday afternoon, 01 November 2021.
It is alleged that at about 17:15, Luke Mathew Prinsloo was riding his bicycle on the Van Den Kemp Kloof Bridge in Stanford Road when he was hit by the taxi driver.
The taxi driver failed to stop and the registration number of the vehicle was taken down and handed to police.
Details of the accident are still sketchy and is under investigation.
The owner of the taxi was contacted and he brought the driver to the police station.
The driver was charged for culpable homicide and will be appearing in the Gelvandale magistrate court this morning, 02 November 2021.
