In a statment released on Wednesday, the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality said residents were hereby notified that the City requires a 48-hour shutdown of the Chelsea reservoir in order to perform the final connection for the new KwaNobuhle Pump Station.
The shutdown is scheduled for Tuesday, April 12, 2022, however, teams will start isolating and draining the system on April 11, 2022.
This will allow the contractor on site to connect the suction pipeline for the new KwaNobuhle pump station to the 750mm pipeline of the Chelsea reservoir.
To safely complete the above-mentioned mentioned work, the Chelsea reservoir must be emptied.
While we have made every effort to ensure that water is maintained in the majority of areas, we anticipate that some areas may experience water disruptions during this time.
